How to use our Cricut Cut Setting Guide
Tap a category tab at the top to filter by material type, then tap any material card to expand its full settings panel at the bottom. Each card shows pressure, speed, and number of passes at a glance, and the colour dot tells you which blade type is needed at a glance (legend at the top).
A few key things to keep in mind:
The Knife blade materials (leather, wood, chipboard, acrylic) require a Cricut Maker — they won’t work on Explore models. For fabric cuts, always back your fabric with stabilizer or interfacing before placing on the FabricGrip mat, as this dramatically improves cut quality. Pressure values shown are approximate starting points — Cricut’s “custom” setting lets you dial these in, and a test cut is always worth doing on a scrap before your final piece.

Pressure Setting – How to determine best pressure settings
Pass Setting : A “pass” refers to a single traversal of the blade or tool across the material. Understanding how to manage passes is crucial for ensuring clean cuts, especially on thicker materials or when using specialized tools.
Speed : The Cricut terminologies related to speed focus on how fast the machine cuts, writes, or scores, primarily affecting production time for projects like vinyl, iron-on, and cardstock.
